What’s Happening in August

August has already been a crazy month!  The hottest days of the year, the rain, the MOUNTING EXCITEMENT about….. our expansion!  Yep, Spring Creek is expanding… more news later (just a little teaser to whet your appetite).

Last month’s art sales were robust!  The Zimbabwe Art Project was a huge success, so much so that they will return in December… with a special guest appearance by one of its founders.  Again, more later!

This month’s artist is Mary Dieringer… stop by and browse this local artist’s work.

If you missed this month’s FREE first-time homebuyers seminar by Bill Grange, I am sure we’ll have another one next month!

Saturday, August 15th – 3pm-6pm – SCRABBLE CHALLENGE!  Once again you can have a chance to beat Ed at scrabble – last month Ed won 3 out of 3 matches but lost in total points!  Everyone walked away with a FREE coffee card!  OUCH!

August 14, 21 & 28 – 6:00-8:00pm FRIDAY night JAZZ!  Enjoy an evening of music with Aaron Byers.

Thursday, August 20 -7:00-9:00pm – Socrates Cafe – an exploration into the philosophical realities of current day events (what did I just say?)

Mexican Mocha Recipe

Enjoy a home-made mexican mocha on cinco de mayo!

  • 12 oz (strong) coffee
  • 4 tsp chocolate syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup cream or milk

This works best if you double or triple the recipe, but you can make just one serving. In a small pot, combine the cream or milk with the cinnamon, nutmeg and chocolate syrup over low heat. Heat until the mixture barely begins to boil, stirring constantly. Pour over a mug of coffee, and top with a dash of cinnamon!
